From a data perspective, I have a simple but reliable signal for which game teams will succeed:
The more core gameplay depends on onchain actions, the better their chances.
Examples:
@playcambria: Cores generate shards ➡️ shards create companions ➡️ companions help players collect items ➡️ items give players a killing and crafting edge ➡️ players earn a larger share of the pool.
@FishingFrenzyCo: Core loop (staking rods, fishing, cooking) is fully onchain.
@PirateNation: Every action, even randomness (via VRF), is fully onchain and directly impacts battles.
Teams that focus only on NFT and token sales without deeply tying them to gameplay are NGMI.
BUT building onchain games is very hard.
@FishingFrenzyCo and @playcambria went through multiple contract iterations before launching stable versions
That’s why picking the right blockchain and strong infrastructure partners (like @SkyMavisHQ supporting some @Ronin_Network games) is critical to helping teams ship better and faster

seeing gaming teams run out of funds or leave crypto is sad, but it further strengthens my belief which studios will stand out and be successful
you either:
1. go full degen like Cambria, Onchain Heroes...
2. build a mass market game like OTG, NFL Rivals and... us Project O
so many teams are stuck in a place where they are trying to compete for a small audience, that tbf has a high LTV and is willing to spend a lot of money, but for the most part you enter a vicious cycle of promising incentives and airdrops which you can only deliver for so long until you run out of steam
and that's where most teams fail, players play until incentives run out or a new shiny game shows up, often disregarding the quality of the game itself
with Project O we will avoid that altogether, we are not focusing on driving engagement through mints, or play-to-airdrop campaigns or rewarding sybils that like our tweets
we know we are here to compete with web2 games, Marvel Snap, Pokemon Pocket etc., there is no reason to hide from that
we like crypto, but we also like making an awesome game for millions of players so we are taking the traditional route for mobile games since that's where our team has the most experience... while using crypto to improve the game, allow people to own and trade their cards and make the collector experience a lot more exciting compared to other card games on the market
i truly believe Project O will be one of the best crypto games ever and urge you to get involved if you want to be a part of it... as i said, no funny games with airdrops and benefits currently, but we are already playtesting, we have a collectors campaign and we will always try our best to make the community win
i have never seen so much positive feedback and excitement around a game at this stage and our team is superb
if you don't know where to start, just message me
