Filecoin’s proposition is straightforward: decentralized storage should offer useful alternatives for storing and retrieving data. The harder question is commercial demand. Storage capacity alone does not establish that customers are paying for services at sustainable rates. Assessing Filecoin means distinguishing network supply from actual utilization, while considering retrieval performance, pricing, and competition from conventional cloud-storage providers.
