coming soon to the @pixels_online staking dashboards...
Transparency into daily rewards & revenue from each game in the staking ecosystem
You'll be able to see what games are most the efficient with rewards.
As make this information easier to find - you'll also see here that core @pixels_online is not performing as well when it comes RORS / revenue as it has historically, especially compared to @pixel_dungeons & @sleepagotchi.
What I love about this the new $PIXEL staking system is it's transparency. Transparency leads to accountability. We all love core @pixels_online and want to see it last for a long time - and to do that it needs to be able to stand against other games in the ecosystem.
Phase 2 Of Staking
Soon Phase 2 of our staking system will being & core Pixels will have to compete the $PIXEL it gives out as rewards. If you are not familiar with how this system works, let me explain again...
There are 28m $PIXEL reserve for ecosystem rewards for players every single month. Previously that was all given out through just one game: core Pixels. As Phase 2 of $PIXEL staking beings, now each game will compete for the amount of $PIXEL it will be able to give out rewards.
The 28m $PIXEL of rewards will be split between games based on how much $PIXEL is staked to each game. At first we will still reserve a minimum 50% of the total Pixel for Core Pixels, but gradually over-time, Core Pixels will have to compete fairly for rewards and we will not guarantee rewards for Core Pixels.
Core Pixels Key Issues & Game Plan
Here is the general game plan to improve Core Pixels...
First we must address the core issues...
1⣠The Gameplay is Stale Right Now
We haven't introduced any large new systems into the game in a while, and the ones that we have, haven't quite hit in the ways that we had hoped. Not every feature teams ship will always hit, that is expected, but some of our strategy was a bit wrong.
We had also been trying to monetize like traditional f2p games but one of our learnings is that is an uphill battle in web3.
Solution...
đ We are going to narrow focus at Pixels on completing the core loop of the game & adding more engaging end-game for users via Chapter 3.
The core premise of Chapter 3 (we're internally naming this new gameplay 'The Resonance Rift' now) will be to introduce a new competitive gameplay that creates sustainable resource sinks, more use for $PIXEL, with elements of skill.
The team has undergone a restructure in the last week - we are going back to our roots & will prioritize speed, scrappiness, and community feedback.
đ There also are better models for monetization that are more suited for real money gaming that we will start to introduce in the game. Typical f2p monetization models don't feel good to users when the core loop has a financial aspect to it. There are better ways to do it that feel much more fair to users.
2⣠Difficult Reward Targeting
Our main system to distribute earnings inside of Pixels (taskboard) is not the easiest to adjust / target properly.
Solution...
đ We are developing a new offer wall system (part of the data platform) that will allow for more targeted & precise earnings, based on milestones that are easier to attribute to ecosystem growth.
Data Platform
Also what many people don't see is that we have been developing this tech for Core Pixels with a platform mindset. Every game in the Pixels ecosystem will get access to this offer wall.
Each game in the ecosystem will get their own dashboard where they'll be able to see a breakdown spend & earnings by automated segments. They'll be able to run campaigns towards these segments, reward key milestones in-game, and be able to target specific users across the ecosystem. They'll get critical insights like what users are holding, selling, and spending tokens, and be able to give rewards based on these criteria.
This is critical infrastructure for web3, and it's been missing from the space until now - we needed it for @pixels_online and other games will need it too.
Final Thoughts
There is a lot to do still, but games like @pixel_dungeons and @sleepagotchi joining the $PIXEL ecosystem are have been great because it keeps us at core Pixels accountable and $PIXEL is strengthened by their performance.
The team is as excited and committed as ever to providing the best experience that we can to users, while making progress towards sustainability. The team needs to iterate, experiment, and make mistakes along the way - but we're still pushing and committed to our flagship game.
