I shorted BTC around 64.5k… even after the Fed left rates unchanged. Yeah, I know. Sounds like I’m fading the obvious move. The most misunderstood part of last night’s meeting wasn’t the rate decision. It was everything wrapped around it. Holding rates at 3.5%-3.75% was already expected. The real surprise was the vote. Nine members supported holding steady, but three wanted another 25bp hike. That tells me something important. The Fed may have stopped tightening for now, but not everyone around the table believes policy is restrictive enough yet. The statement didn’t help the bulls either. The economy is still expanding, the labor market hasn’t cracked, and inflation remains above the 2% target, with energy prices still creating pressure. That doesn’t sound like a central bank getting ready to celebrate easier policy. It feels more like a hawkish pause than a dovish pivot. Then I looked back at BTC. If “no hike” was such an obvious bullish catalyst, why couldn’t price keep climbing? BTC pushed toward 64.64k, then slipped back near 64.5k instead of attracting aggressive follow-through. Deadass, that’s what caught my attention more than the Fed itself. When good news can’t push price higher, I start wondering whether the market has already priced it in. Sometimes the traders chasing the headline become the liquidity for the next move. So I’m only watching two levels now. If BTC can reclaim and hold 64.65k, I’ll happily admit my short idea was wrong and step aside. If 63.8k breaks instead, I’d expect the stops from late longs to add fuel to the downside. This isn’t me betting against the Fed, and it’s definitely not me claiming BTC has to dump. I’m just trying to answer one question: if the bullish news is already on the table, why isn’t price acting bullish? $BTC $ETH
