Attended @farcaster_xyz FarCon last week and concluded that we still live in the great divide of Ethereum (Vibes) vs. Solana (Money). Just like Brooklyn Crypto will rarely cross the bridge to hang out with Manhattan crypto🫠
Brooklyn crypto is vibes and values-focused, using the tech towards a more decentralized internet. Manhattan crypto says no, it’s permissionless money.
Then I ran into folks like @TheRealKartik who angels in both ETH & SOL projects including us (thanks for being in my corner!). And @humpty0x @0xGramajo @ddwchen who are absolutely the ETH 🐐but found @soon_svm’s #soonBase mainnet to bring SVM builders + Base users together interesting. And we’re going to host a podcast about this! Stay tuned❤️

this is real asf and i think best understood as finance-/tech-first understanding of crypto.
what he is calling “manhattan crypto” is really people who see crypto primarily as a financial asset that benefits from all market participation. they want to do finance and find crypto to be a convenient place to do it.
what he is calling “brooklyn crypto” is really people who see crypto primarily as a technology with more political goals. they believe there is a right and wrong way to engage with crypto and are unsatisfied with purely financial applications of the tech. they’re more dogmatic.
