DTCC launched its service Oct 28, initially supporting 34 stocks, ETFs and Treasuries, with ~$30T in eligible assets. Twenty institutions, including JPMorgan and Citi, signed access agreements. DTC-held securities can become 1:1-backed tokens, retaining existing rights and enabling 24/7 transfers. Canton and private Besu networks are supported first, with more public chains planned. Actual adoption and benefits for settlement and collateral management remain to be tested.
