On September 7, ZEC's intraday high reached $1,253. Its market cap surpassed $20 billion, breaking into the top ten cryptocurrencies by market cap. If you're still waiting for it to "fall back to my cost price" before getting on board— You might never get on the bus. This isn't FOMO. It's something called price discovery, and it's throwing you off the hook. [I] What is your current status? ZEC has entered the price discovery phase. To put it plainly: there are no historical candlesticks above for reference. The October 2016 high of $3,191 was an abnormal fluctuation caused by insufficient liquidity, not an effective price. The truly effective historical high is now—every number being refreshed. Up 45% in the past week and 138% in the past 30 days. 24-hour spot trading volume is about $2 billion. This is not slow bull. This is rocket. But the rocket's fuel may be the sentiment of retail investors, or the real money of institutions. You need to figure out what you're following. [2] Three key points: draw your map well Resistance above: The $1,257–$1,315 range — this is the recent intraday high and the main resistance zone. The MACD has formed a bearish crossover, and the parabolic SAR continues to rise, indicating that bullish momentum is weakening. Historically, similar patterns have preceded 12% declines. $1,500—the next psychological threshold. If ZCSH continues to raise funds, this position is not a dream. Support below: $1,100-$1,105—the first line of defense. Technical indicators indicate that a 12% pullback would lead ZEC down to $1,100. $1,075-1,086 — Second line of defense. $1,020-$1,025 — the most important psychological and technical support level. This was where ZEC first effectively broke above $1,000. If it falls below here, the entire upward structure will need to be reassessed. Draw these three lines well. Don't wait until it drops to ask "What should I do?" [Three] Two things that must be tracked First matter: ETF capital flow—Is ZCSH really having real money flowing in? On August 25, the Grayscale Zcash ETF (ZCSH) was listed on the NYSE Arca. As of September 4, cumulative net inflows reached approximately $34.4 million, with assets under management growing from about $260 million at listing to $463 million, an increase of nearly 78%. The fund holds a total of 444,608 ZEC tokens. Sounds like a lot, right? But compared to the daily multi-billion dollar trading volume of Bitcoin spot ETFs, ZCSH's first-day trading volume of $14.8 million is more driven by retail investor sentiment. The significance of ETFs isn't how much money has already come in, but that it opens a door. If traditional funds continue to flow in, ZEC has a chance to challenge 1,500+. If inflows slow, short-term pullback pressure will increase sharply. Watching ZCSH's daily net inflows. That's the result of institutions voting with their feet. Second matter: Progress of Ironwood migration—Has the technical risk truly been eliminated? In May this year, Orchard's shielded pool was revealed to have potential integrity vulnerabilities. ZEC once plunged more than 60%. On July 28, the Ironwood upgrade was activated on mainnet. Orchard stopped adding new transfers, and existing funds had to be migrated to Ironwood through the Turnstile mechanism. As of August 24, the migration progress had reached 85%, with only 3% of ZEC remaining in Orchard. Looks good, right? But there's a figure you need to remember: as of July 30, about 3.29 million ZEC remained in Orchard, and only about 410,000 ZEC had completed the migration. What is 85% calculated by that standard? You can judge for yourself. Whether migration goes smoothly directly affects market confidence in protocol security. If further vulnerabilities are exposed, reflexivity will quickly shift from upward momentum to downward amplifier. [IV] One principle: Do not anchor decisions on historical costs This is the most important sentence of the entire article. Taiki Maeda, one of ZEC's largest longs, liquidated his losses below $300 after the Orchard vulnerability was exposed. Then, after ZEC returns to pre-event price levels—buy back at a higher price. Sell low, buy high. Sounds like a fool, right? But Taiki's approach is precisely the most rational: completely separating historical costs from future assessments. Exit when risk has not yet been eliminated. Buy back when price and fundamentals support the trading logic again. Increase position as judgment is validated. Most people do the exact opposite: When it drops, I desperately add to my position—because I don't want to admit I was wrong. Sell quickly when prices rise—because you've "earned enough." The result is: losing positions accumulate more and more, while profitable positions become less and less sold. ZEC rose from $16 to $1,200. Past prices are not related to future judgments. If you're still waiting for it to "fall back to my cost"—you're not trading, you're dating the candlestick. [Risk Warning] PANews reviewed the previous ZEC surge and concluded that "it started with demand, ended with sentiment"—the proportion of private transactions declined instead of rising after the spike. Wang Chun, co-founder of F2Pool, just posted bluntly: Zcash's current rally is essentially narrative-driven speculation, not real value support. He cited issues such as unfair issuance and founder rewards. How much of the current rally is genuine adoption, and how much is leveraged gambling? During the September 4 wave, ZEC perpetual contract short positions were liquidated by about $34.5 million to $44 million. Futures open interest once exceeded $2 billion, with extremely high concentration of short positions. Gains from leverage are just as fast as when the tide goes out. [Conclusion] ZEC took nine years to rise from $16 to $1,200. No one knows if it will continue to rise. But one thing is certain— Using "it used to be cheap" as a buying reason is the most dangerous decision-making framework. During the price discovery stage, the only effective decision-making framework is: Three key points are drawn out. Two things are kept in mind. One principle is to hold firmly. The rest is left to the market.
