[Pharaoh's Market Watch]
Everyone is asking Pharaoh, Strategy lost 8.2 billion and has paused buying coins, is it doomed?
Pharaoh directly says, the 8.2 billion loss on the books is true, but it's a completely different kind of "loss" than you think. This loss is an unrealized loss on the accounting books, not cash gone. In Q2, BTC dropped from 68,000 to around 58,600, a 14% drop. The company holds over 840,000 BTC, so calculating at fair value naturally shows a loss on the books.
But the three things truly worth watching are:
First, stopping purchases for five consecutive weeks, breaking the "only buy, never sell" myth for the first time. Strategy historically never went five weeks without buying BTC, and instead sold about $218 million worth of BTC to pay preferred stock dividends. Although the amount sold is not large relative to holdings, the "only buy, never sell" label is now torn off.
Second, cash reserves have grown to 3.75 billion, enough to last two years. The company increased cash from 2.4 billion to 3.75 billion, enough to cover over two years of dividends and interest expenses. This shows they are not panic selling but preserving capital in a bear market while waiting for opportunities.
Third, the big picture hasn't changed. Seller put it plainly: this adjustment is capital management, not a strategic exit. The company is still handling BTC under the new framework but clearly stated—future financing will no longer focus solely on buying coins but will balance liquidity and buybacks.
What does Pharaoh think?
Strategy's move essentially switches from "blindly buying" to "accounting mode." Short term, this pressures market sentiment since the largest bulls have started buying and selling simultaneously, which is evident from the recent resistance around 64,000. Mid term, after accumulating enough cash, they could restart buying coins anytime, potentially becoming a latent buying force.
Remember, losses on the books and losses in real cash are two different things. Good trades are waited for, not chased.
