AVAX at $9.4, would you still dare to hold it?
Institutions are quietly accumulating while retail investors are calling it trash. RWA growth leads all chains, yet the price has fallen back to the starting point—is this the final shakeout or an escape window?
First, look at the surface: continuous good news, but the price doesn't rise.
AVAX is currently at $9.40, down 2.3%-2.7% in 24 hours, down 8% in 7 days, and weakly oscillating over 30 days. Market cap is 4.17 billion, 24-hour volume is 198 million, circulating supply is 444 million tokens. The candlestick chart shows a decline from mid-October's $10.5-$11 range, now testing the $9.39-$9.26 lows. Price is below the 20/50 moving averages, RSI is 35-43, neutral to weak, close to oversold but not extreme—all indicators are signaling one thing: support nearby, waiting for direction.
First thing: institutions are buying, but why no price rally?
Look at these news items, don’t skip:
Janus Henderson (about $500 billion AUM) became a validator and invested in the on-chain credit platform Tranched.
Dubai DIFC court has put court orders/records on Avalanche C-Chain.
Hyundai Card is piloting cross-border payments on Avalanche via Axiym, reducing time by over 96%.
Tokenized US Treasuries about $545 million, roughly 4x growth this year; RWA distributed assets about $1.73 billion; RWA growth in the last 30 days about $266 million, leading multiple chains.
Charles Schwab plans to launch AVAX trading by year-end; Goldman Sachs-related Treasury funds access Avalanche settlement network via Lynq.
In plain language:
AVAX is no longer just the "high-speed public chain" story; it is becoming the settlement layer for institutional RWA and payments.
But the harsh truth is:
Institutions are buying the settlement layer five years from now, you are buying the candlestick five days from now.
Institutions enter slowly, not responsible for pumping the price for you.
So the price is slow to react to good news—not because the narrative is false, but because macro and liquidity conditions don’t cooperate.
Second thing: fundamentals are strong, but retail doesn’t buy in
AVAX’s foundation is solid:
DeFi TVL about $580-$590 million, stablecoin market cap about $1.25 billion, active RWA AUM over $1 billion.
Daily active addresses about 40,000, daily transactions about 250,000.
Advantages include institutional-grade subnets/L1 customization, fast finality, fee burning, rapid RWA/credit/payment adoption. BlackRock BUIDL and Securitize have significant shares.
But weaknesses are obvious:
Retail DeFi activity is weaker than Solana/Base, DEX and perpetual volumes are shrinking, fees and per capita transactions are low.
In short:
Institutional narratives are sophisticated, retail doesn’t understand; retail doesn’t play, so price lacks elasticity.
AVAX doesn’t lack stories, the stories are just too advanced, short-term funds lack patience to listen.
Third thing: macro is the biggest blade, 9.3 is the litmus test
BTC is oscillating between 81,400-82,000, US September inflation rose to 3.7%, above expectations, 10-year yield about 5%, market even pricing in possible rate hike by end of October.
In a high interest rate environment, altcoins’ beta to BTC will be amplified.
No matter how good AVAX’s RWA narrative is, it can’t withstand Fed rate hike expectations.
Technically more direct:
Falling from $10.5-$11, now testing first support at $9.30-$9.40.
Secondary support at $9.00-$9.10, stronger at $8.70-$8.90.
Resistance near term $9.50-$9.60, mid $9.75-$10.00, higher $10.50-$11.00.
Funding rate near neutral, long-short ratio biased long but not extreme, open interest moderate, recent long liquidations more frequent. Weekly chart still at bottom of large range, retraced over 93% from ATH.
9.3 is not an ordinary support, it’s a litmus test:
Holding it is a golden pit; breaking it with volume is a bottomless pit.
Long-short showdown, you decide
On one side:
Janus Henderson, Charles Schwab, Goldman Sachs-related funds, Hyundai Card, institutions landing real projects
RWA 30-day growth $266 million, leading all chains
Tokenized US Treasuries 4x growth this year
Testing $9.3-$9.4, RSI near oversold
On the other side:
Macro high rates + 3.7% inflation + rate hike expectations, risk assets under pressure
Weak retail DeFi, shrinking DEX/perpetual volumes
Price below moving averages, short-term bearish
Breaking $9.3 may accelerate drop to $9.0 or even $8.7
Key levels
Resistance above: $9.50-$9.60 → $9.75-$10.00 → $10.50-$11.00
Support below: $9.30-$9.40 → $9.00-$9.10 → $8.70-$8.90
Trading strategy
Short-term traders:
Light position to observe if $9.30 holds.
If it rebounds and stabilizes at $9.50-$9.60 and BTC stabilizes, consider short longs targeting $9.75-$10.00;
If it breaks $9.30 with volume and accelerates down, consider short positions near $9.00.
Swing traders:
Wait for below $9.00 or volume breakout above $10 to increase position.
Fundamentals support mid-to-long term logic, but don’t chase highs before macro turns.
Long-term believers:
If you believe in RWA/institutional narrative, accumulate below $9 in batches, don’t all in at once.
Target future cycles, but macro turn and BTC strength are prerequisites. Prioritize position management, avoid heavy single-coin exposure.
AVAX now is like LINK in 2023—
Everyone curses “old coin not rising,” but institutions quietly accumulate RWA and payments.
What happened later? LINK rose from 5 to 20.
AVAX is not losing price, it’s losing retail patience; institutions are buying not candlesticks, but the future settlement layer.
