The "Bitcoin decoupled from stocks" claim is half true, and the half people miss is the important one. Bitcoin has started decoupling to the upside, running when it has its own catalysts even as equities stall, but it still tends to fall in lockstep during genuine risk-off. That's asymmetric, not independent.
This matters for how you hold it. An asset that decouples up but correlates down is maturing, but it hasn't become the uncorrelated hedge the bulls describe, not yet. The honest read: crypto is increasingly trading its own flows (ETPs, tokenization, adoption) on good days, while still deferring to macro fear on bad ones. That's real progress from pure high-beta-Nasdaq behavior, and it's incomplete. I'd take the upside decoupling as a structural win and keep the risk-off correlation firmly in mind.
Just my read, not advice.
