About HSBCRaisesSpaceXTarget
HSBC raised its SpaceX price target from $117 to $150 on Sept 15. With the stock near that level, the move reads as acknowledging improved expectations rather than signaling upside. Early investor Vy Capital disclosed a $40B stake and projected SpaceX could exceed $10T within 5-7 years. Wall Street targets range from $150 to $300, reflecting public market focus on capex and earnings delivery. Is SpaceX a space and telecom company, or an AI infrastructure platform to be priced differently?

A $40B stake is evidence of how far an early bet can travel, not proof of the next valuation milestone. Vy Capital's projection that SpaceX could exceed $10T within 5-7 years sets a much higher bar.
My read: the key test is whether expansion into AI and orbital compute can generate earnings that justify the ambition. A long investment horizon helps, but does not settle that question.

INTERESTING: A VC firm with just four investment staff has built a $40 BILLION stake in SpaceX, per FT.
Vy Capital owns roughly 3.4%, making it the company’s fifth-largest shareholder, ahead of the disclosed holdings of Sequoia and Andreessen Horowitz.
It first invested in 2016 at a roughly $15 BILLION valuation.
The firm's assets under management jumped from $27 BILLION at year-end to $50 BILLION in June.

SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell just explained where Starlink Direct-to-Cell is really heading
“We have a Direct-to-Cell business right now through T-Mobile. I don't think they provision all their users with it, just the people who pay the most
But our plan is, instead of leveraging slices of T-Mobile spectrum or other telecom spectrum across the globe, we want to leverage the one that we paid a lot of money for
With the stock increasing in price, it paid more because there was stock involved, so Charlie did all right there. He is a very loyal customer, though; he's been a customer of SpaceX for almost 20 years
So we want to leverage that to make sure there are no dead zones
Shockingly, there are a lot of places in the United States where without a Starlink service, you can't get cell coverage
It's really terrible. The rest of the world is not that bad; it's particularly bad here in the United States”

Elon Musk says SpaceX could achieve full orbital rocket reusability by early next year.
Starship Flight 14 could be the final flight before SpaceX attempts to catch the ship with the launch tower arms. If that works, they could attempt to re-fly both the ship and booster by the end of this year or, more likely, early next year.
Musk says this would make Starship the first fully reusable orbital rocket, designed to operate more like an aircraft than a traditional rocket.
If SpaceX pulls this off, it could be a massive breakthrough for the future of spaceflight.

SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell on data centers in space:
“There is an expense to put data centers on the ground. You have to buy real estate, and as soon as someone finds out a supercompute center is going in, real estate goes from $3,000 an acre to $180,000 an acre. The time lag is incredible. Permits and licensing are pretty stifling. People are talking about generators in three years.”
“We need compute now. The demand is insatiable right now. People need compute now. We need it now. So why data centers in space? We own launch. We have great launch capability, and that path is very well known. The real estate in space is infinite. It’s free.”
“The cooling is there. The radiator looks at deep space, the coldest thing ever out there, so free cooling. You can put satellites in orbit that always face the sun. We’ll be making our own solar panels too. We’re building a factory outside Austin.”
