Met my master @yanzero_ at Coinfest, and he mentioned and shared some insights about Orbitum.
I haven’t done a deep dive into Orbitum yet, but some time ago I researched Malaysia’s US$43B tokenization opportunity.
During that research, I came across a platform that I think is highly relevant to Orbitum: Fusang Exchange.
Fusang Exchange is a regulated digital securities exchange in Labuan, Malaysia. One of its most interesting initiatives is tokenized Sukuk.
In October 2023, Fusang listed an institutional Sukuk issued by the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM). Fusang used its Fusang Depository Receipt (FDR) structure to represent the Sukuk digitally, allowing it to be listed and traded on the exchange.
According to Fusang’s current data, it has now tokenized 34 Sukuk, with more than US$543M in total issuance and an average profit rate of 4.63%.
If Fusang shows what tokenized Sukuk can look like in Malaysia, Orbitum could potentially build something similar for Indonesia.
If Orbitum can build the infrastructure to support Sukuk issuance, tokenization, compliance, custody, and distribution within Indonesia’s regulatory framework, I think this could be a very interesting opportunity to watch.
