Altcoin leverage is sending a strange signal. Combined altcoin perpetual OI recently moved above Bitcoin’s for the first time since late 2024, reaching roughly $40B vs $23.9B for $BTC. This isn’t automatically bullish. It means traders are taking significantly more leveraged exposure outside BTC.
