US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded strong demand at the beginning of September, attracting roughly $1 billion in net inflows between September 2 and 4. However, the trend reversed on September 8, when the products registered approximately $46.6 million in net outflows. Selling from funds such as GBTC and FBTC outweighed continued positive flows into BlackRock’s IBIT and Bitwise’s BITB, creating the first negative session after the earlier inflow streak. The reversal is worth monitoring, but one negative day does not automatically signal a broader institutional exit. The outflow was relatively small compared with the previous week’s inflows, while Bitcoin’s movement below $79,000 also reflected profit-taking and wider macro pressure. Upcoming inflation data, oil prices and interest-rate expectations may have a greater influence than a single ETF session. A more meaningful warning would be several consecutive days of broad outflows involving the largest funds.
