U.S. Senator Lummis: The process of advancing the stablecoin GENIUS bill is "extremely difficult"

PANews reported on May 28 that according to CoinDesk, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis said at the "Bitcoin 2025" conference that the process of advancing the stablecoin bill "GENIUS Act" is "extremely difficult". "It's so hard, I have no idea how hard it will be," she said. The bill passed a procedural vote last week above the 60-vote threshold to enter the final discussion stage before the final vote, but it was blocked earlier by opposition from both parties such as Democratic Congressman Elizabeth Warren.

Lummis said the bill, which she co-sponsored with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, would be the first successful piece of legislation in the Senate Banking Committee in eight years, if passed. Lummis also revealed that he is working behind the scenes with the House of Representatives on the Market Structure Bill, which has more legislative experience after passing FIT21 last year.
