올해 초 @SonicLabs는 디파이 디젠들의 가슴을 설레게 했어. 빠르게 재정비된 체인 위에, 오랜만에 향수를 불러일으킬 만한 디파이 프로덕트들이 등장했지. 당시에는 포인트 기준으로 약 2억 개의 $S 토큰을 뿌린다고 했고, 이는 전체 유통량의 약 6%에 해당하는 규모였기에 큰 하이프가 붙기도 했어.
하지만 디파이 특화 체인에 대한 글로벌 관심이 한풀 꺾인 만큼, 소닉도 이 물량을 받아줄 유저가 해외에는 많지 않다는 걸 알고 있을거야.
결국, 유일하게 반응을 기대할 수 있는 시장은 ‘한국’뿐이라는 판단 아래 이번 행사를 기획한 것이라 생각해. 다만, 이제는 한국 투자자들도 교육이 되어 예전만큼 쉽지는 않다는 걸 곧 체감하게 될 거야. 행사장에 모인 대부분은 에어드랍 파머이고, 야핑 참여자는 프로젝트 입장에서는 ‘부채’이기 때문이야.
결국, 예전처럼 디파이 정신이 깃든 진짜 프로덕트로 승부를 걸지 않는다면, 다시 주목받기 어렵다고 생각해. 개인적으로는 예전에 좋아하던 소닉이 베라처럼 관심 밖으로 밀려나는 모습을 보는 게 안타까워.
