A friend of mine who is an investor in my fund and I’ve known for 25 years told me a story about Carrie Wheeler that I’d forgotten. He bought his current house from a family member a few years ago (“great guy” he said). Carrie had just been appointed CEO My friend owned $OPEN and was hopeful she’d engineer a turnaround. He talked to her family member about it and mentioned me. I owned the stock then too in the fund. The family member offered to make an email intro to Carrie which he did but she never responded, irking my friend. Carrie’s not on X so I can’t tag her here but I’ve yet to hear from her over the past 10 days. Some CEOs would reach out. Some are busy. I get it. Although we’re all busy. Who do you know who’s not busy? It would be nice if she bought some stock right now as Ernie Garcia did in spades. It would be nicer if she delivered a home run quarter in a couple of weeks.
