Aave's new Safety Module, Umbrella, is live. Umbrella introduces aToken staking, making it easier to manage risk and avoid bad debt without relying on governance. Staking is now available on the Aave app.
While staked with Umbrella, users earn rewards for contributing to the risk management of Aave. In case of a shortfall event, your stake may be slashed to cover the deficit, adding an extra layer of protection for the protocol.
If you're staked in the previous Safety Module, you'll continue to earn rewards until sufficient liquidity builds up in Umbrella. No action is required at this time for users with staked AAVE, staked GHO, or staked APBT. Track staked assets here:
Also, staked GHO has transitioned from staked GHO (stkGHO) → savings GHO (sGHO) and has new parameters. Both the cooldown and slashing risk have been removed, making sGHO a simple savings vault for GHO holders. See here:
