Tl;dr: - @Chainlink solved verifiable inputs (price feeds, data streams) - Ethereum solved verifiable state - Verifiable real-time data storage is still missing You can’t build a decentralized and composable economy when storage is on AWS. @HyveXYZ coded.
After just one day in Buenos Aires, I can already tell there’s a clear consensus on what Web3 is missing: Decentralized, real-time data storage. There are countless brilliant dApps, but they all rely on a centralized component for their most important asset: data. Current decentralized storage solutions are great for archival data: blogs, images, static files, but not for operational, real-time data (yes, including IPFS). Why? Their economics reward cold storage (store once, retrieve rarely), not high-egress, low-latency workloads. As a result, most “decentralized” apps aren’t fully decentralized. They rely on centralized storage solutions like AWS S3, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. These are the only systems capable of delivering the required performance today, but they’re also the single point of failure today: the piece that makes dApps susceptible to liveness outages (e.g., the October 20th AWS outage). The decentralized web should stay decentralized, but performant. This is why we’re building @HyveXYZ.
