"Tomorrow, a jury will decide if writing code is a criminal offense." Some of these tweets are so overly dramatic.
Tomorrow, a jury will decide if writing code is a criminal offense. Roman built something he couldn’t control and now he’s facing prison for it. If they convict him, every dev who’s worked on Ethereum is at risk. OFAC already said the contracts aren’t sanctionable, but that doesn’t matter if the jury doesn’t understand how Ethereum works. This case will decide if we’re still allowed to build permissionless tech in the US. Privacy is normal. Code is free speech. Free @rstormsf.
He didn't just "write code" he literally facilitated over $1B in criminal money laundering of stolen funds. He watched as 16 hacks went through his site/protocol. He continued to pay for the site and profit from his $TORN tokens. He cashed out $2.6M to $12M to his personal secret account.
"Roman built something he couldn’t control" This is also bullshit. He absolutely could have taken down the site and reduced the volume by 96.3%.
