A lot of folks have messaged me about Jani’s post prior to its deletion. It’ll prob come at no surprise that I don’t intend on airing dirty laundry in public, nor do I want to pretend it never happened and sweep it under the rug. We’ve been in touch with the THJ team but haven’t been able to personally reach Jani in the last ~10 hours. I’ll reserve further comment, but it’s my opinion that this is a result of miscommunications and broken telephone, not malice. I think that Jani is a brilliant dude, a gifted builder, a mature operator, and generally a massive asset to the Bera eco, and would hate to see that change. I can’t endorse his comms because I think that they had significant ripple effects that aren’t normally characteristic of someone like Jani who has spent years contributing to the Bera eco. But I’m not going to invalidate his beliefs either, and I understand the frustration. I think that the Henlocker situation is one that requires a fair bit of nuance because it really isn’t black and white (and this is something that I’d rather not dive into until we get to a resolution), especially in the middle of improving governance guidelines which we know aren’t perfect, especially in a system as complex as PoL. A lot of this is also learning as we go with a nascent economic system and there are teams that have caught collateral damage as a result of this which is our fault - I’ve also tried to be communicative and self aware about this in public. I remain very supportive of THJ, Henlo and other initiatives in the eco, and hope to see them continue their work on Bera for years to come. It’s times like this where I’d love to see the ecosystem come together and support each other as opposed to forming mobs. I’ve got no desire or incentive to hold the teams in the eco back - the whole team and I want to see them win; but of course in a sustainable and long termist manner, while being aware of any standards we might set in decisions made along the way. I know it’s not always easy, but I do truly believe that we all want to see Berachain win. Tl;dr I’m optimistic on a positive outcome, I’m of the opinion that this has been more of a function of poor comms (on our side as well) than vendettas etc. I mean this from a perspective of accountability - we’ve got work to do and stuff like this certainly hurts, but we will continue to work towards a happy outcome for all folks involved.
