FAQ

Where will I receive the money after selling crypto?

After your Sell order is completed, the proceeds will be credited to your Trading account balance. Go to Portfolio to check your updated balance and view your assets.

Sell only supports receiving the proceeds in your Trading account balance. It doesn't support direct payouts to a bank account, card, or external payment provider.

Can I sell crypto directly to my bank account or card?

No. Sell does not send the proceeds directly to a bank account, debit card, credit card, or external payment provider. The proceeds from a completed Sell order are credited to your Trading account balance.

Is there a fee for selling crypto?

There is no transaction fee for Sell orders. However, “no transaction fee” does not mean that the quote will match the spot-market price. The quote may reflect an applicable spread, FX conversion where relevant, and current market conditions. Review the final amount before confirming the order.

Why did I receive less than I expected after selling crypto?

The amount you receive is based on the quote you confirmed. The result may reflect the quoted Sell price, an applicable spread, FX conversion where relevant, and current market conditions. No separate transaction fee is charged.

Open the order details and compare the confirmed quote, crypto amount sold, and cash or stablecoin amount received. If the completed result doesn't match the quote you confirmed, contact support with the order ID, order time, asset, and amount.

Why is my Portfolio value different from the amount I received from Sell?

The completed Sell amount and the total value shown in Portfolio are different things. The order details show the amount received from the completed Sell order. Portfolio shows your Trading account balances and the estimated value of your other assets, which may change with market prices.

Check the Sell order details first to confirm the completed amount, then go to Portfolio to check the credited balance.

Why did the Sell quote change?

Sell orders use real-time quotes. A new quote may be different because of market-price movement, liquidity, an applicable spread, FX rates where relevant, or changing market conditions.

If a quote expires, you cancel the order, or you start a new order, review the new amount before confirming it.

Which crypto and cash currencies can I use for Sell?

Available crypto, cash currencies, and stablecoins can vary by account market and product availability. Use the options currently displayed on the Sell page. If an asset or currency is not shown, it's not available for that Sell order.

Are there minimum or maximum Sell limits?

Yes. The applicable minimum and maximum amounts are shown on the Sell page and may vary by crypto, cash currency or stablecoin, account market, and current product rules. Use the real-time limit displayed when creating the order.

Why can’t I see the Sell option or sell a specific crypto?

Sell may not be available for every account, crypto, cash currency, or stablecoin. Availability can depend on your account market, verification status, selected asset, transaction amount, and current product or risk-control requirements.

Use the options displayed in your account. If the selected asset is unavailable, try another supported asset or currency, check that the amount is within the displayed limits, and complete any verification requested in the flow.

How do I check my Sell order status?

Open Activity or your Buy/Sell order history and select the Sell order. Review the order status, confirmed quote, crypto amount sold, and amount received.

  • Pending: Wait for the status to update before creating another order.

  • Completed: Go to Portfolio and check your Trading account balance.

  • Failed, rejected, or cancelled: Check the order details to confirm whether the crypto remains in or has been returned to your account.

What should I do if my Sell order is completed but the balance is missing?

First, open the Sell order details and confirm that the status is Completed. Then go to Portfolio and check your Trading account balance for the cash currency or stablecoin received.

If the completed amount is still missing, contact OKX Assistant with the order ID, order time, crypto sold, currency received, and amount. Do not create another Sell order solely because the balance is not yet visible.

What should I do if my Sell order failed or was rejected?

Open the order details and review the displayed status or reason. Check whether the crypto remains in or has been returned to your account. You can create a new order after resolving the displayed issue.

For an account-specific explanation, contact OKX Assistant with the order ID.

What is the difference between Sell, Convert, and spot trading?

Sell exchanges supported crypto for an available cash currency or stablecoin using a quote, and credits the completed amount to your Trading account balance. Convert exchanges one eligible crypto asset for another using a quote. Spot trading uses an order book and lets you choose an order type and price, while execution depends on the order and market liquidity.
