Layer-2 competition is becoming increasingly important for Ethereum's future. Optimism's ecosystem strategy should be evaluated through developer retention, application activity, and the ability of participating chains to attract real users. More chains do not automatically mean stronger token demand. Sustainable growth requires useful applications, competitive transaction costs, and an economic model that creates lasting value beyond ecosystem expansion.
