LayerZero’s biggest strength is also its biggest challenge: interoperability becomes valuable only when different networks genuinely need to communicate. More chains can expand the addressable market, but fragmented liquidity, security assumptions, and competing interoperability protocols remain serious obstacles. The long-term test is whether LayerZero becomes neutral infrastructure for cross-chain applications rather than another temporary messaging narrative.
