fwiw i've never thought base owes me anything. in turn i don't need permission to build on base. i don't need permission to build on ethereum. you can literally just build things without anyone's permission. you can market your product and get people using it without the support of coinbase. i've built on base, i've built on ethereum, polygon, arbitrum — never expected permissionless networks to care about what i build on them. thats kind of the beauty. i started building on base because it worked well. fast, cheap, AND the base team happened to be really going out of there way to support builders. the support was a nice perk. i had not seen another L2 do the same, but i never hinged the success of the things i built on this support. to do so would be a mistake. has vitalik ever mentioned bankr? no, and i don't expect him to. base has jesse supporting projects publicly and everyone seems to feel like he owes them something. at its core base is simply infrastructure to build new types of products on. if you don't like what the base team is doing you are free to build on the many other permissionless chains that exist.
