#AIMemoryBullTest
The AI memory bull case is facing an important reality check. Western Digital fell despite beating expectations as cautious guidance and margin comments worried investors. Sandisk also declined after a strong quarter because its next-quarter revenue midpoint missed consensus. In Korea, SK Hynix and Samsung came under heavy pressure, while reports suggested Nvidia may reduce memory in some Rubin Ultra configurations because advanced HBM supply remains tight.
Memory scarcity is both an opportunity and a risk. Limited supply supports stronger pricing and higher margins for producers, but excessively expensive or unavailable components can delay AI-chip shipments and reduce customer demand. In my view, investors are no longer questioning whether AI needs more memory; they are questioning whether current valuations assume too much pricing power and perfect execution. The next test will be whether manufacturers can expand HBM output without creating future oversupply. Contract prices, capital expenditure, customer inventories, and Nvidia’s product configurations will be more important than broad AI enthusiasm.
