What is so good about @Somnia_Network Data Streams??
so? liek always im skeptic, and always dmor, but how does it stack vs. traditional oracles (Chainlink) & endpoints on speed/data avail?
It's a game-changer for onchain data, but irl off chain?

On-Chain vs. Off-Chain Speed in @Somnia_Network Data Streams
When u think about it…
Yes, you’re right that off-chain data which is high more widely used and abundant (from centralized databases or APIs) can feel faster in raw access terms because it avoids blockchain consensus overhead.
However, when building decentralized apps, the end-to-end speed (from event happening to app reacting and updating) often makes on-chain superior on high-performance chains like Somnia?
I’m researching this and finally find the answer if the team is building this Data Steam something good or irrelevant…
Feels like Firebase but on-chain,
Why Data Streams Crushes for Real-Time dApps Speed: Sub-0.1s block times + subscription pushes = instant updates (no polling lag).
Traditional oracles? 10s-min delays. Endpoints? 1-15s polls. Result: Web2 UX for gaming/DeFi (e.g., live leaderboards w/o indexer fees).
Data Availability: Always-on, compressed on-chain streams, 99.9% uptime via Somnia's 1M+ TPS. Depends on whats out there, but reliable if the blockchain doesn't fail?
But my question is, will it slow down the entire blockchain with more data going around the validators and nodes? (or does it go trhough them?)
Cost/Trust: Sub-cent txs, fully verifiable. Most likely a txn fee per ask.. but will be super super cheap looks like (2/3)

Worth the wait? For reactive apps, yes, onchain data like wallets or things that happens in other @Somnia_Network games yes..
Others, stick to endpoints like oracles. Why? Theres no data there.. if there is a prediction market? on how much BTC is or what weather it is? Where is data from? oracles.. going through onchain data stream takes EVEN longer..
Off-Chain Lag: Needs oracles (e.g., Protofire) to ingest real-life data—adds 1-30s upfront.
Direct APIs win for ms-speed pulls, but lose on decentralization. Niche Fit: Killer for on-chain events (txns/wallets), m√eh for pure off-chain (e.g., static queries), if its for onchain somi network, yes this is a good product, otherwise for daily life and other crypto things, this data stream in my opinion is more marketing than usefullness at least for this point.
That said, i am a SOMI holder.. (3/3)
