Gmum!
Optimum is the world's first high-performance memory infrastructure for any blockchain. Powered by Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC), @get_optimum scales L1/L2 speed, robustness and throughput by orders of magnitude, enhancing dapp performance and end-user experience.
Builders and operators can adopt mumP2P now for measurable latency gains.
How mumP2P Works
mumP2P is a gossip mechanism based on RLNC, also known as Galois Gossip, that builds upon libp2p's GossipSub protocol. Instead of transmitting complete messages between peers, mumP2P breaks messages into coded shards that can be independently forwarded and mathematically recombined to reconstruct the original data.
Imagine: you want to send a large pie to your friends in neighboring houses â but not whole, but in pieces, so that it's faster and more reliable. đ„§ That's mumP2P â a way to transfer messages (data) in pieces over a network, rather than in one piece.
Conventional networks send âeverything at onceâ â if you lose a part, there may be a failure.
mumP2P divides the message into many âshardsâ (pieces) with a reserve, and each node forwards the pieces it has received. Even if a part is lost, it can be restored from the remaining pieces.
Here's how it works (in simple steps):
1âŁEncoding â the message is broken down into fragments and âencoded piecesâ are created from them.
2âŁDistribution â each neighbor receives different pieces.
3âŁForwarding from nodes â they don't wait for the whole piece, they can immediately forward the ârecodedâ parts further.
4âŁAssembly â after receiving enough different fragments, they put the pieces back into the original message.
Benefits of this method:
â
Fewer delays (no need to wait for the entire large file)
â
Resilient to loss (if several pieces are missing, we can still recover)
â
More efficient in terms of traffic (less duplication)
Node structure in the mumP2P network:
đč Based on libp2p â this is like a âframeworkâ for communication between nodes
đčEncoding/decoding logic added
đčNodes connect in a âmeshâ to exchange data
Security: you can't just throw in bad pieces and spoil the message. How this is prevented:
đčThe message is signed (the author signs it)
đčVerification â the hash and signature are checked during assembly
đčIf some of the fragments are âdishonest,â the node can âpunishâ the sender by reducing their reputation
Where mumP2P can be useful:
đž In blockchain networks (Ethereum, Cosmos...) â to transfer transactions and blocks faster.
đž In applications where data needs to be distributed quickly: games, social networks, distributed systems.
mumP2P is like a package cut into pieces that pass through many postmen.
Even if part of it gets lost, you will still get the whole pie.
This makes the network faster, more reliable, and âsmarter.â
