the @Cubs won their first playoff series since 2017 last night
I was in Chicago for Game 7 of the 2016 World Series and victory parade
undoubtedly the greatest sports experience of my life to date
it got me thinking about communities and aligned incentives
after I posted about the Cubs win, people I hadn’t heard from in years reached out
they were just as excited and wanted to share in the euphoria of winning together
it’s a bond that’s powerful but almost unspoken
I felt this in 2021 with NFT communities like Punks and Apes, and again this past year with memecoins like MOG and REKT
now I’m seeing it again with prediction markets where traders rally around outcomes
different arenas, but same energy
collective belief, shared upside, and the joy of seeing it pay off
don’t bet against that feeling
winning is great, but winning together is unforgettable
