#TON just rolled out Jetton 2.0, a major upgrade for anyone swapping or trading tokens on-chain.
For clarity, jettons are to TON what ERC20s are to Ethereum. They’re the standard for creating and managing fungible tokens on the network. Tokens like $NOT, $BLUM, $TONIO, and many others are all Jettons. They follow a common smart contract blueprint, making them easy to use across wallets, DEXes, and dapps.
Jetton 2.0 upgrades those contracts. The main highlight is speed. Under heavy load, transfers are now up to 3x faster.
This boost comes from how wallets are now handled. Your jetton wallet is always deployed in the same shardchain as your main wallet. In the old setup, wallets could land in different shards, causing delays. Now they stay together, which means smoother and faster transactions all day.
This was made possible by a recent TON node upgrade that allows contracts to be deployed into specific shards.
What this changes:
• Faster swaps and transfers
• Less lag during high traffic
• More stable DEX experience on StonFi, Dedust, etc.
• Better scalability as new tokens roll out
Jetton 2.0 was built by the TON Core team and it’s already live. Fully open-source on GitHub and being adopted by devs across the ecosystem.
Even the CEO of the TON Foundation (@crownmax) dropped a post: “Time for meme coin season?” and it’s not just a joke. One of the reasons people held back from trading meme coins on TON was the lag in transactions. That friction is gone now.
