OKX operates as several separate legal entities worldwide. Under each entity's terms of service, you can hold only one account, and each ID document including your ID card or passport, can verify only one account. This applies to every identity verification method.

This FAQ covers what to do if you've already completed identity verification on an OKX account with your ID card or passport, but can't access the original account because you've forgotten it, or the linked phone number or email no longer works, so a new account can't complete identity verification.

1. I registered a new account, but it says I already have verified accounts. What do I do?

If you register a new account and the system finds that your ID information matches an existing account, follow these steps to recover your original verified account:

  1. Open the OKX app and log in to your new, unverified account.

  2. Go to Identity verification, select your document type, and have your ID ready. This step matters.

    1. Upload the front of your ID, select View verified accounts, and complete face authentication.

    2. When prompted to confirm the account is yours, select This is my account, then select Can't log in to verified account, and select the phone number(s) and email address(es) you want to migrate.

  3. Once the migration finishes, log in to your verified account with the new phone number or email. If you've forgotten the password for your original account, select Forgot password on the login page to reset it.

Note:

  • your original unverified account is permanently closed, and any phone number or email you don't select is released

  • referral relationships, coupons, and other data on the unverified account don't migrate

  • your verified account can't sell crypto via P2P trading or withdraw funds for 24 hours

  • if you want to trade P2P afterward, check and bind a new payment method on the payment methods page

2. My old account's phone number and email don't work anymore, what happens after I register a new account?

Log in to your new, unverified account and follow these steps to recover your original verified account:

  1. Go to Identity verification, select your document type, and have your ID ready.

  2. Upload the front of your ID, select View verified accounts, and complete face authentication.

  3. When prompted to confirm the account is yours, select This is my account, then select Can't log in to a verified account, and select the phone number(s) and email address(es) you want to migrate to.

3. I have an old account. How do I log in to it now?

If the phone number, email, or authenticator app linked to your account no longer works, reset it in the app:

  1. On the login page, select Forgot password.

  2. Enter your old account's phone number or email, then select Can't verify? > Reset security authentication methods.

  3. Select every security item you can't access, then reset them. You don't need a code from the original method to do this. Make sure your app version is 6.143 or later.

Note: for your account's security, you can't withdraw funds or sell crypto for 24 hours after resetting your authenticator app (for example, Google Authenticator), phone number, or email. This restriction can't be lifted.

4. I know my old account's phone number or email, so why can't I log in?

If the phone number, email, or authenticator app linked to your account no longer works, reset it in the app:

  1. On the login page, enter your old account's phone number or email.

  2. Select Forgot password.

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts, then select Can't verify? > Reset security authentication methods.

  4. Select every security item you can't access, then reset them. You don't need a code from the original method to do this. Make sure your app version is 6.143 or later.

5. I registered a new account, and now my old account is unusable. What do I do?
