The early days of bitcoin (for me) 2014 and on, I spent a lot of time , energy, and money trying to stack more btc. I did this by taking extra shifts at work, flipping ICOs, and gambling on altcoins, because altcoins were just a tool to get more bitcoin. Ultimately, it was my greed that caused me to lose my bitcoin. I found a "better bitcoin" in 2016 (zec) and invested heavily over the next few years by buying with bitcoin. My greed to get more bitcoin caused me to lose a lot of money in the form of opportunity cost, because bitcoin rose over the next few years while zcash dumped. But even though I was losing money, the valuation thesis never changed. I was put into a forced hodl mode for 8 years. Now that the time has come for zcash, I am not going to make that mistake again. I have plenty of zcash. I will not let my greed shake me out of my retirement again. I have a seperate stash of coins that I will use for active trading. (My litecoins) No mistakes this time around.
