Teacher, the block generation speed is fast, but what happens if the block size is as small as a mouse's droppings? @SonicLabs Please respond at a speed of 4 million TPS. If the response is delayed, I will assume that the block generation speed is slower than Bitcoin, haha.
Let's properly understand TPS. In fact, TPS is not a term related to speed. TPS stands for Transactions Per Second. It refers to how many transactions can be processed on average per second. When @SonicLabs says it has a maximum of 400K TPS, it means it can process an average of 400,000 transactions per second. In reality, the biggest factor affecting speed in blockchain is the "block time." Since transactions in blockchain are executed in blocks, the frequency at which blocks are created is the most important factor. Bitcoin has a block time of 10 minutes, Ethereum has 12 seconds, and Solana has 0.3 to 0.4 seconds. Even if there is a chain with an extreme TPS of 100 million, if the block time is 1 hour, the transaction I sent from my wallet could take up to an hour to execute in the worst case. The point at which TPS affects speed is when there is high usage and transactions are congested. No matter how fast the block time is, if the amount that can be processed in one block is small, then when usage increases, you will have to wait. So, in fact, on a quiet chain where only 1 to 2 transactions occur per second, whether the TPS is 10, 400K, or 10 billion, it does not affect speed at all. It will just be processed according to the speed of the block time as requests come in. Therefore, expressions like "with TPS speed" that are often seen recently are somewhat strange, like saying "with a weight of 100km." So if someone yells "with Sonic's 400K TPS speed," you can just comment back, "Ah, lol, that's not speed, lol."
