Blockchains themselves aren’t really infra, they’re substrates The infra that matters is what turns them into functioning markets data feeds, coordination layers, intelligence layers, verification, trust protocols... without that, a blockchain is just a ledger That’s why real infra like Chainlink or Allora matters they unlock entirely new classes of applications that chains alone can’t support if you're "building a chain" in 2025, yeah, at this point everyone knows you're milking the market but you're not serious
I had lunch with the CEO of an L2 today and his take was rather similar too. Instead of focusing on the chain, they are doing internal hackathons to build consumer apps to grow revenue and utility. He hasn’t come to the conclusion to launch the apps on Solana or Base and abandon their chain yet, but still trying to launch a killer app to revive the chain. Instead of working with other dev teams, they are just doing it in-house. I guess everyone is realizing that a pure infra play will not suffice and we will need good apps making revenue else everything will go to zero. Nature is healing indeed.
