Finally found the time to read the entire DeAI masterpiece by @MTorygreen (@ionet co-founder), who spent a LOT of time working on this article.
I will share the link to Tory's article in the reply to this tweet.
It's a MUST to look into, if you're serious about decentralized AI development & it's future.
Many may know, I am a DeAI bull and believer, tons of statements resonated with me, I want to cover a few:
What got me thinking, is that crypto’s “iPhone moment” hasn't yet come.
It isn’t another token or project, it’s decentralizing intelligence.
It's quite obvious that centralized AI is currently in a VERY tough spot: compute demand roughly doubles every 3+ months, data-center spend heading toward trillions by 2030 with power constraints to match, and single-vendor outages keep reminding us who's in control.
Centralized options are full of trust and governance problems, only possibly fixed with decentralization.
DeAI is not something imaginable, it's already a reality:
@ionet stitches idle GPUs into on-demand clusters in ~90 seconds, operating across 138+ countries, and can come in up to 90% cheaper than the centralized clouds.
Having already onboarded 100s of partners, featuring many Web2 giants like Dell, Ionet empowers a decentralized AI future.
DeAI does wonders to AI infrastructure by freeing up dormant GPUs, scaling and democratizing open-source models - it's already happening:
Aethir reports ~400k GPUs across 90+ sites, Filecoin sits north of 2 EiB, Akash has logged >99.99% uptime, Bittensor aggregates thousands of models, Ocean is wiring up data access globally.
Where this goes is clear: an intelligence layer that scales because it’s coordinated, not owned.
Put compute, models, and data on open rails and experimentation gets cheap, resilience comes from distribution, and outputs carry a verifiable trail - while costs fall toward a fraction as idle GPUs come online.
As Tory claims, DeAI will be bigger than Bitcoin, DeFi, and NFTs combined, so it's definitely not to be slept on.
Credit to @MTorygreen for writing up such a well-detailed article, it's a LOT of high quality info to think about.
