Buying tickets to a concert can be painful.
Stay up late, refresh the website every minute, etc. only to lose your spot to sophisticated ticket scalpers. If you manage to snag a ticket, it's after you get hit with surge pricing, extra fees, and promotional emails.
You can buy tickets off a resale network – but that’s usually a choice between marketplaces with high fees or untrustworthy, scammy whisper networks. The experience has gotten so bad that ticketing companies have been called in front of the U.S. Senate to answer for the controversy.
So what’s the solution?
One company, @xpticket, is reinventing tickets. At its core, XP is a ticket resale marketplace. But what makes it unique is that the company uses Tamperproof NFTs (or tpNFTs) to seal tickets until the holder decides to break the seal. This addresses the need for security and authenticity, both major concerns when selling any kind of real-world asset on a secondary marketplace.
By using Solana under the hood, everyone saves on fees. As per XP, users save an average of $61 per ticket, around 20-30% cheaper than Stubhub, SeatGeek, or Vivid on average. And users are noticing – as of 21 May 2024, the site had 49 million tickets.
