Liam lost everything he had
One mistake and his whole wallet was gone
This story could happen to anyone, even if you're careful
I broke it down so you never end up like him🧵👇

Liam had good habits
Used a hardware wallet, multisig, cold storage
Didn’t click random links and never answered DMs
But trust in the wrong place still got him

He was active in a new protocol’s Discord
A “mod” pinged him in a dev channel about a private beta
It sounded like an early access thing for serious users
Liam replied and asked for a quick call
The guy sounded normal
Explained the beta was for a new staking contract
Said early testers would be whitelisted manually
Liam asked for the link and said he’d use a burner wallet first

The site looked polished and matched the project’s branding
He connected his burner and nothing happened
Then he switched to his real wallet, thinking it was safe
That’s where it went wrong
The contract prompted a weird approval function
Liam paused and asked the mod if that was expected
He got a confident answer and hit confirm
Less than a minute later, his funds were gone

He checked the wallet and saw everything was drained
Stablecoins, ETH, tokens, NFTs
It was all routed through Tornado within minutes
Nothing could be reversed

Later he found out the mod account was fake
They cloned the server layout on a lookalike domain
The invite looked real, but it was a copy
And the call was part of the setup
The contract gave full access to his tokens
It was written to drain the wallet the second it was approved
He thought he was being careful
But the scam was built to feel safe
Discord feels casual but it’s high-risk by default
Anyone can copy a server and impersonate a mod
Real teams won’t rush you into contracts on voice
If something feels even slightly off, stop

Scammers don’t need you to be stupid
They just need you to relax for five minutes
Liam didn’t fall for a basic trick
He got hit because someone made it feel real
