September CPI came in hot across the board: headline 3.7% YoY (vs 3.6% expected), core 2.6% (vs 2.5%), and core MoM stuck at 0.3% instead of cooling to 0.2%. The pass-through question got answered — energy (+20.4% YoY, gasoline +9.1% MoM) is spilling into core, and the December hike trade just got its best argument. BTC is holding $82–83k for now, but the setup changed: the market no longer has to imagine the hike case, it just got the receipt.
