I formally support step 1 here. As an aside, I'm tired of talking - happy to write code or review, but won't be engaging in much internet debate. We should have done CTV a long time ago, and CSFS is a no-brainer. I have a patch that implements these two plus CAT in a more or less signet-reviewable fashion, so that could easily be modified to strip CAT out for now.

I think my ideal roadmap looks like this (script-related): - enable CTV and CHECKSIGFROMSTACK asap - Great Script Restoration - upgrade CTV with TXHASH + add some form of direct introspection + ECMUL/TWEAKADD
