BAM is by far the most important work we've done at Jito up until now. It's a fundamental change to Solana's market micro structure aimed at solving negative MEV on Solana, reducing jitter, and improving market maker experience.
tl;dr BAM decouples the validator scheduler from the client and that unlocks a few things 🧵
1. Transaction Privacy
The BAM scheduler runs within a TEE which provides users a trustless way to send transactions without fear of them being leaked.
This is especially important for institutions and size traders that are especially sensitive to market inefficiencies.
2. Fast Iteration Cycles
By decoupling the scheduler into its own subsystem, you can rapidly iterate and improve that specific code path without being beholden to network wide upgrades.
3. Reliable Network
BAM builds entire blocks of non-vote transactions at discrete time slots. The validator executes what it receives from the BAM node in FCFS. This leads to less jitter in the transaction sending code path. Today the network is underutilized, but anyone who has been around long enough has felt the pain of trying to land a transaction during high burst times.
4. Manlets
BAM is for the manlets, those who believe in a world where the world's financial system will run on Solana, those who dare to challenge the status quo, those who dare to dream.
