Hacktivists (@FreedomofPress, @TMIYChao, @redshiftzero, @jarradhope_), cryptographers (@jaromil), civil society advocates (@helveticade, @alexis_roussel), infrastructure experts (@juanbenet, @SCBuergel, @vpavlin), came together alongside voices from electronic voting (@vocdoni), vpn & mixnets (@_wjth, @nym), encrypted messaging (@tessalaprofessa, @germnetwork, @matrix, @session_app), browser (@PryvitKyle, @brave), @torproject devs, researchers (@kassandraETH), radio comms specialist, lawyers (@MarinaMarkezic), file sharing innovators (@IPFS, @Filecoin), and many more freedom tech advocates joined the conversation.
Together. Beyond tribalism (web3, web2, competition)
🧩 Same values, diverse approaches — truly productive.
Across 30+ sessions, changemakers with a clear-eyed understanding of the digital age’s challenges — and the determination to act — came together to co-create real solutions.
What stood out most? The genuine sense of purpose.
Everyone showed up not just to participate, but to freely share their expertise in service of a greater cause.
🧩 Lasting impact — for the whole ecosystem.
The Cypherpunk Retreat laid the groundwork for long-term collaboration. The impact of these interactions will echo for years — through partnerships, shared standards, joint projects, and ongoing mutual support.
The Internet Archive was glad to connect with Tor and WEDF. Germ, and Bluesky with Matrix.
