There is fast and then there is NEAR Fast 🏎️ 🏁
The numbers don't lie 👇
I wrote a python script to benchmark blockchain time to finality.
Comparing NEAR in this one with some of the top 10 chains.
In 60 seconds, NEAR can finalize 50 cross-shard transactions @ 1 tx/finality. Ethereum and Cardano would have finalized zero txs in this time.
Results ↓
$NEAR @ ~1.2s finality → 50 txs settled in 60s
$BNB @ ~2s finality → 30 txs settled in 60s
$XRP @ ~4s finality → 15 txs settled in 60s
$SOL @ ~12.8s finality → 4 txs settled in 60s
$TRX @ ~60s finality → 1 tx settled in 60s
$ADA @ ~120s finality → 0 txs settled in 60s
$ETH @ ~12.8 min finality → not even close
*time to finality for each chain is an approximation gathered from different sources. NEAR requires two blocks @ 600 ms block time, for example.

I'll work to improve this visualization over time.
Will try to add more chains and maybe find a way to include transaction capacity (scalability) somehow.
Still, an interesting way to understand how time to finality affects the overall user experience in each chain. Anything higher than 3 seconds seems too much, imo.
Have been using Nano $XNO for years (600ms finality) and now NEAR. These chains can really get you spoiled to a point where it becomes a nightmare to use slower chains.
I didn't include nano here because I wanted to check chains that can do more than simply send/receive a single-unit coin, achieving faster finality while also doing more complex operations (e.g., cross-shard function calls), being the real challenge for performance.
