reasons for this are a bit subtle and intuitive but I'd attribute it to:
- the mellow green color everywhere. blends well with green in orderbook and candles. only 2 main colors on entire site
- the frequency of the orderbook flash is hypnotizing, and well placed near the order form to encourage action
- subtle flashing on the ticker header at a lower frequency than OB
if you watch bybit, the orderbook does not change shape so it's less hypnotizing.
binance - they nail this, but on both sites the buttons are a bit harsh in shape which causes too much focus from your eye. I've never spent much time on binance though it may be similarly effective, kind of a nitpick
This is why HL will continue to pick up so much soft flow, along with great liquiditiy for a dex, no kyc, etc.

- black is way too dark and harsh
- orderbook animation moves too fast
- order forms are too small to click without thinking
- candles are too jerky.
a gambler will never reach the zone there
Pump fun is the other app that nailed this, which is why they both won. Market share loss now is just because Bonk pumped in more money and coins aren't really running atm so it filled a void in a small market.
the large amount of time on pump's site by users is evidence of this.
if you watch axiom, also great gambling machine design. every tab in explore and has lights that are constantly, smoothly flickering.
night and day compared to photon and bullx which move too slow and jerky
the only place they're lacking is perps design
The order book flickering and movement is perfect; I just take issue with the lack of other movement, and especially the color choices.
