That year at 798, I watched a media art exhibition. A pigeon was flying above the exhibition hall.
It was mechanical, biomimetic in design, with feathers made of silver plastic fibers, and a pair of wings flapping continuously. A child thought it was a real bird and waved at it from the ground. The pigeon spun around while emitting a high-frequency buzzing sound.
Then it fell down. With a thud, it hit the ground, and its wings moved a few more times.
At that moment, I suddenly felt: it was alive.
This image has stayed in my mind until recently when I saw @pjonfly $PJN. It was another pigeon. But this time, it wasn't in the exhibition hall; it was on Solana.
Pjon's official setting is the first living cyber pigeon. It sounds like a joke. But it doesn't resemble a traditional meme project.
Behind it is Neiry Labs, an accelerator focusing on brain-machine interfaces and DeSci. This organization isn't just blowing concepts; they have actually conducted narrative projects like brain-machine mice and brain-machine gorillas, and the first two tokens have been launched on Solana.
$PYTHIA: It opened and surged to 30 times, then went through a few months of adjustment, and has returned to ATH, with a market cap exceeding 60 million dollars.
$ELVIS: It started at a maximum of 5 times, also had a round of correction, and is now heading towards ATH.
So this time, Pjon is their third phase experiment.
In my view, this pigeon might be more like an on-chain installation art piece. Although it may really be usable in reality in the future, it clearly leans more towards experimentation and artistry at the moment. Besides the life of the pigeon itself and the connection to the brain-machine interface, the K-line itself reflects another lifeline of this pigeon. This is much more interesting than most meme projects.
Of course, friends who know me are aware that I won't blindly rush into projects; everything requires everyone to DYOR. I just recently refocused on the field of crypto art, checked out some exhibitions offline, and chatted again with artist friends.
So for this project, I might decide how to participate more from the perspective of an interesting artwork.
I will continue to watch this digital pigeon, just like I did with the one that fell down back then, to see how long it flies, how high it flies, and how it flies.
