Ripple Co-Creators: The "Change the Bitcoin Code" campaign is funded solely by him and has nothing to do with the company
PANews reported on May 30 that according to Finance Feeds, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen clarified that the "Change the Bitcoin Code" campaign launched by the environmental protection organization Greenpeace in 2023 (aimed at promoting Bitcoin to move to a PoS mechanism) is only funded by him personally and has nothing to do with the company. Larsen said that its original intention was to explore the possibility of Bitcoin facilitating carbon capture technology, but acknowledged that the movement fell short of expectations.
Despite Ripple's recent gift of a "Satoshi Nakamoto Skull" sculpture (originally a symbol of environmental criticism) to the Bitcoin community as a sign of reconciliation, which CEO Brad Garlinghouse called an "olive branch," community reaction has been divided. Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets at VanEck, demanded a formal apology from Ripple for funding the anti-Bitcoin campaign, while Ripple CTO David Schwartz refuted doubts about XRP's centralization.
