Why don’t validators cheat?
Because it’s too expensive. 💸
Proof-of-Stake turns honesty into the most profitable strategy — that’s game theory at work. 🧵

Each validator locks stake to earn the right to propose blocks.
If they double-sign, go offline, or manipulate transactions, they’re 'slashed' — losing part (or all) of that stake. 🔪
Risk > reward = stay honest.
This creates a self-reinforcing loop:
Honest behaviour → rewards & reputation ↑
Malicious behaviour → stake & trust ↓
Cronos chains all apply this logic: staked $CRO = security. 🧩
For example, on Cronos POS, slashing guards the payment layer, and
Cronos ZK EVM’s proofs act as mathematical slashing — invalid blocks can’t even be posted on-chain.
Think of it in terms of security as economics, not electricity.
It’s trust engineered through aligned incentives — the backbone of sustainable decentralisation. 💙
