About GrayscaleWorldcoin
Grayscale filed with the SEC for a Grayscale Worldcoin ETF, its first fund tied to WLD. It would directly hold World Network's native token WLD and passively track its value; if approved, it lists on Nasdaq under generic standards, with BNY Mellon as transfer agent and BitGo as custodian. WLD's market cap is about $1.3B, ranking 57th among crypto assets. World, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, spans biometrics, crypto and blockchain identity. It is Grayscale's latest product-line push.

#GrayscaleWorldcoin Grayscale Filed for a Worldcoin ETF. The Prospectus Is Worth Reading.
Grayscale just filed an S-1 with the SEC for the first US Worldcoin ETF. Spot fund, WLD held directly, Nasdaq-listed, BitGo as custodian and BNY Mellon on administration. Structurally, it's serious.
But read the actual prospectus and things get more complicated.
The filing flags biometric bans in seven countries, a centralized World Chain sequencer, and 90% wallet concentration in a handful of addresses. Those aren't fine-print quibbles; they're core to how this project is built. WLD is also down roughly 97% from its all-time high, trading around $0.36 with a ~$1.3B market cap. And Grayscale left the management fee, seed investment, and share-to-WLD ratio blank in the filing. To be filled later via amendments.
One signal that's getting buried in today's noise: WLD's daily token unlock rate drops from 5.1M to 2.9M starting July 24. Genuine supply-side relief, quietly tucked under the ETF headline.
The real question isn't whether regulators approve this. It's whether institutional demand is actually there if they do. WLD carries the Altman name, a biometrics identity thesis that's either ahead of its time or fundamentally broken depending on who you ask, and now a Grayscale wrapper. That's a lot of surface area for competing narratives.
Is this filing a genuine validator for WLD, or Grayscale working its product roadmap regardless of the underlying? Probably both. And those aren't the same thing as bullish.

🚨 TODAY: Grayscale files S-1 for a Worldcoin $WLD ETF.

Grayscale just filed an S-1 for a Worldcoin ETF, adding WLD to a fast-growing lineup of crypto fund filings. The eyebrow-raiser: WLD sits down around 97% from its peak. So the question writes itself, is this real institutional conviction, or the ETF wrapper being stretched over anything with a ticker and a story?
Both can be true. The ETF machine is clearly moving past BTC and ETH into the long tail, structurally bullish for access and legitimacy. But an ETF is a wrapper, not a thesis; it makes a token easier to buy, not better. For a project as polarizing as Worldcoin, a regulated vehicle is validation and risk-transfer at once. I'd separate "there's now an easy way to buy it" from "you should." Watching which altcoin ETFs actually get approved.

Grayscale filed an S-1 with the SEC July 20-21 to launch the first US ETF holding Worldcoin's WLD token directly — a spot, passive trust with no leverage or derivatives, listing on Nasdaq under ticker GWLD. BitGo Bank & Trust would custody the tokens, BNY Mellon as administrator/transfer agent, CSC Delaware Trust Company as trustee.
WLD jumped 7-8% on the news to an intraday high of $0.387 — still roughly 97% below its March 2024 all-time high of $11.80. Worldcoin, co-founded by OpenAI's Sam Altman via Tools for Humanity, is the biometric "proof of personhood" project built on eye-scanning Orbs and World ID.
Risk factors flagged in the filing: regulatory uncertainty over whether WLD or its transactions get classified as securities, World Chain's centralized sequencer, and ongoing scrutiny of biometric data collection that's already faced restrictions in several countries. No management fee, seed capital, or authorized participants disclosed yet — those come in later amendments.

ForskningGrayscale files with SEC for spot Worldcoin ETF
Top Wall Street asset manager Grayscale has officially registered its intentions to launch a spot ETF for Worldcoin’s WLD token with the U.S. SEC on Monday in a move set to offer American investors a regulated platform to hold the token without touching a crypto exchange. The filing lands with WLD trading near $0.375, roughly...

Grayscale just filed for a Worldcoin ETF. The first of its kind in the US, to be traded on NASDAQ.
Let's take a step back and look at what Wall Street wants to package up and sell you.
This is a project that scans your iris at physical stations called Orbs to generate a biometric identity. 18 million people across 160 countries have already done it. The pitch is that AI makes it impossible to tell humans from bots, so we need universal proof-of-personhood.
The regulatory track record speaks for itself. Kenya raided their warehouse and ordered all scans deleted. Hong Kong called it "unnecessary and excessive." Thailand wiped 1.2 million records. Brazil, Spain, South Korea, Germany, and others have imposed bans or investigations. China flagged it as a national security threat.
But it keeps expanding. Quietly rolling into new markets, partnering with apps like Tinder, building out infrastructure for AI agents to carry your biometric identity. The strategy isn't to win the public debate. It's to embed so deeply into everyday platforms that by the time people notice, opting out isn't realistic.
The problem is irreversibility. You can change a password. You cannot change your iris. If this biometric data is ever breached or compelled by a government, there is no reset.
Every centralized identity system in history has expanded beyond its original scope. Now Grayscale wants to wrap it in an ETF and slide it into your retirement account. The normalization is the point.
