The Bitcoin-treasury bellwether just posted the quarter I've been watching for. Strategy reported an $8.3B loss for Q2, driven by a non-cash mark-to-market hit on its Bitcoin under fair-value accounting, and, more tellingly, sold roughly 3,588 BTC, its first real selling after years of "never sell." Two weeks ago the company signaled it might. Now it has.
Read it without panic and without denial. Most of the loss is an accounting artifact, not a cash event; fair-value rules cut both ways and showed enormous gains on the way up. But the actual selling is the substance: a leveraged holder trimming to manage obligations is exactly the pressure the model faces when price stops rising. Not the end of the treasury-company thesis, its first real stress test in the open. The lesson stands, owning BTC and owning a levered bet on a BTC-holder are different trades. Watching whether the selling continues.
Not advice, just analysis.
