What is smart account?
A smart account is a smarter, safer, and more powerful self-custodial trading experience — designed for crypto users who demand top-tier security without compromising on performance.
It begins with a regular seed phrase wallet (EOA). Once enabled, your smart account secures your private key inside a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), a safe hardware enclave that ensures your key is never exposed, not even to OKX Wallet.
Smart accounts currently unlock advanced trading strategies for OKX DEX orders on EVM and Solana networks, with more network support and features to come.
What is TEE?
TEE stands for Trusted Execution Environment, a secure, isolated area inside modern hardware that’s designed to protect sensitive data, even from the device’s own operating system.
With OKX Wallet’s smart account, your private key is encrypted and stored inside TEE, where it can’t be seen, copied, or extracted, not even by OKX Wallet.

What changes after I enable smart account?
Enabling smart account doesn’t affect your access to its unsupported networks or our wallet’s existing features.You can continue using all other networks as usual with your seed phrase.Smart account simply unlocks advanced features for supported networks (currently EVM and Solana).
When enabled, only OKX DEX orders will be securely signed through smart account (TEE).
Note: In a future phase, other types of transactions may also be supported.
Otherwise, all other transactions (transfers, other DApp interactions) will not be signed through TEE, and need to be signed just like before.

How do I enable smart account?
To get started, you’ll need to first create a seed phrase wallet (EOA) using the OKX Wallet app or web extension. From there, you can either:
Add a new smart account, or
Enable smart account for an existing account: as long as its total asset value is under 10,000 USD (a limit set during our Beta phase to ensure optimal security and performance).

Has the wallet been audited and is the code open source?'
Security comes first. Before opening the codebase, we’ve engaged a top-tier, independent security firm to complete a full audit. This ensures that when the code is released, it’s already been thoroughly reviewed and hardened against vulnerabilities. Once the audit is finalized, the report will be published publicly and the code will be open-sourced — giving the community both transparency and confidence that what they’re reviewing has already met the highest security standards.
