Can Ethereum Rival Solana?
Pectra is one of the biggest UX improvements to Ethereum.
From ETH mainnet, to Base, to MegaETH and even Berachain - the Ethereum experience is going to be so good, I think it can get close to rival Solana.
Why?
- 1 transaction for everything. No approval and then swap. A significant improvement in UX from what we currently have when using EVM apps.
- Multiple transaction execution within a singular transaction. Something like this will be incredible for doing multiple actions, swap, add collateral and borrow all in one go.
- Limits on how much can leave your wallet per day improving security. Expecting a reduction in exploits because of the some of the settings we can now have on wallet withdrawal limits. A great improvements all round.
- Spending caps within application. Again, another improvement to help enhance overall security.
- Recovery mechanics for your wallet without a seed phrase. This is because of being able to use other methods including multi-factor authentication or passkeys.
- Even cheaper fees! Blob space doubles! L2 gas fees drop even more.
- Anyone can sponsor your gas, that includes applications too. Gas can also be paid in any ERC20 token too. Gasless transactions are about to be a very common thing!
Users don't need to know about account abstraction, things are just going to work. The above are just some of the features that will make apps compete with their peers on Solana, how long will it take for a widespread implementation? That is a big question now, but I'd like to think wallets are on it already and before we know it apps will have the above integrated this year.
